Last Wednesday, I had fully completely my coursework. I put everything into my folder and added it to my blog, this was vital in order to give it in and the blog gave me a full idea of how I've progressed through from the Preliminary Task to the evaluation of my construction. I have uploaded all my work onto my blog throughout the course.

This course has gave me a wider understanding of Media, even though I didn't take it in High School, therefore it was a privilege to to have a year in order to get into the depths of Media.

This is my last post that I'll be making, Hope you like it.

Over the half term I went over my 12 essays, and corrected them. This gave me enough time to start planning on what to write in my evaluation. Today I got it back as I had done it over the half term, and I need to make some specific changes. At this point I  can look ahead to planning my time well.

Today I have made some tweeks to my blog, and made small  changes to my front cover, contents page and double page spread. This was quite important as I took advice from my teacher and peeps to what changes I needed to make. I believe the small changes can make a big difference. So now I'll have to write up my article in word and then put it into my double page spread.

Over the weekend, I finished off my final drafts. I also continued to construct my front cover and started work on the contents page. I know that I will still need to make a few changes, and due to getting help from my media teacher, I was enabled to tweek a few things and make it look more professional e.g. the font size. By printing a draft design out - I was able to see how it would actually look like. Because my draft design was constructed well and easily made changes to. I was able to finish it off quicker, yet spent quite some time researching some indie magazine coverlines. I would say right now I am quite proud of what I have done so far, yet I still know I will need to do some more minor changes to add in more detail and effect to the music magazine.
So far my magazine front cover, contents and double page spread looks like this:

Today, I worked on my front cover especially, as I wanted to put in more detail to the 'skeleton' view of it. I added some features and built up the genre of the magazine. I added some differnet fonts that looked elegant and went with the genre such as "Times New Roman." I worked on the layout of my double page spread and understand that I have to work  better towards the context and language of the magazine.

Over the weekend I did my draft designs of my front cover, contents page and double page spread, because I believed it would be easier for me to constuct my magazine with the aid of my draft designs and also keeping in track with my work. Today I started my double page spreads (layout) because I believed it was the easiest and the only page I was certain with, as I think I still need to make a few changes to my contents page and take more images, most probably of a male aswell to give a wider audience attracation. Today, I got used to the photoshop tools again as its been quite a long time since I haven't used them and by becoming familiar with them I played around to construct a close enough image to my draft.

Recently I did a photoshoot in order to give me an idea of what to plan for my draft front cover, contents page and double page spreads. This was vital as I had already understood what type of shots to take and took into considerations of what I had done wrong in my preliminary task. I took various shot types such as long shots, extreme close ups and then used a prop (guitar) in order to establish my indie magazine. Today I was able to upload my mood board and mood board analysis alongside my questionnaire.

Today I started my questionnaire analysis for my research. I put the data into excel and made pie charts for each one, and started explaining them. I expect to finish this by the end of the week alongside my draft designs.

Monday, March 5, 2012

I printed out all my 10 questionnaires, then went to my target age group and got results. Alongside, scanned in my initial ideas (spider diagram) and the draft hand drawn designs of my front cover and contents page.

Today, I understood how to use blogger. It was vital for my understanding because it will help me throughout the year of creating my music magazine, as I will constantly be putting them on the blog. Therefore, after exploring Blogger I uploaded my Preliminary Front Cover and Contents Page.

My coursework consisted of the purpose to assess my ability to plan and construct media products using appropriate technical and creative skills, ability to assess my application of knowledge and ability to undertake, apply and present appropriate research. In preparation of my portfolio I will produce a front cover and contents page of a Woking College magazine called 'Pulse', this is the Preliminary Task. It is vital for my progress and understanding of the main task. To do this I’ll undergo initial ideas mind map, pulse cover and contents page.

Through research of a variety of magazine's, it's necessary for extra information in order to create the production of my main magazine, that includes hand-drawn drafts of music magazine front cover, contents page and double page spread, alongside audience research and reports. This is done by 12 pages analysis through previous music magazines, audience research and two reports. This is vital to my understanding as background research is important in order to succeed in my main task. To do this, I would need to do a lot of research through the official websites, Internet and in-depth analysis through the different music magazines.

The main Portfolio Project is to produce the new Music Magazine, A minimum of 4 original and produced images with a front cover, contents page and a double page spread, consisting of my theoretical understanding. The construction of the magazine is the actual product of my magazine. The importance of creating a draft design and updated research and planning gives me the chance to get an accurate production of my final piece.

The evaluation reflects on all stages of my coursework, including a technical account of the decisions and revisions made. The report is a reflective, analytical review of my work to be developed alongside the product. I will produce a written evaluation and podcast version. To do this I will do an analysis of how I approached the production process including decisions, revisions, working practices, successful and unsuccessful ideas and approaches and analysis of how the artifact was formed. Throughout indicating an understanding and justification of what I am doing.
